The loss of the Internet connectivity on Ubuntu Server 18.04- continues
to be an issue with the Intel i219-v onboard Ethernet adapter. I just
lost the Internet connectivity on the Ubuntu 18.04 server and I was not
even doing anything on the server.

I just logged in and the Internet connectivity had dropped. There's no
way this should be happening if the OS/driver software was driving the
Ethernet adaptor properly.

I've run several experiments over the last few weeks on the performance
and stability with both the NetworkManager and networkd services. I was
thinking that maybe the networkd implementation by Ubuntu Server was
stable, but that's was a no go as well. Same behaviour as with
NetworkManager.

I'm going to have to remove Ubuntu Server 18.04 (probably go back to
CentOS Server 7.4) if Ubuntu Server 18.04 can't manage the required
networking. Simply should not be an issue given the long-term proven
technologies involved with Ethernet and IP networking.

Thanks.
