Hi,
I've now been able to reproduce the problem in kubuntu
the attached spreadsheet above that I created in ubuntu does not have the
problem even if I open it in kubuntu
however I've created a new spreadsheet as above in kubuntu and the problem
then appears
it seems linked to the ( character in the text in A1 as when that is removed
the SUMIF function again returns the expected result
