Thanks for following up; I understand this may not be fixed in older
releases.

This has been fixed upstream in later kernels (from memory, about 2.6.19
onwards, but I'm not 100% sure), I've used the following patch with
success, for those wishing to use this on older releases. That means
this should work fine in Gutsy.

The errors experienced are not correct; it simply failed to set DMA
modes, but should have ignored and continued. This patch does exactly
that.
