Hello! I confirm this bug. I can not start Blender at all. I use Compaq nc4000 with ATI Radeon IGP345M videocard, using open-source drivers (xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.7.195-1ubuntu2). Нere is the short log in debugging mode of Blender: Your problem is not problem, man. I can not even start Blender. I am thinking it is due my Compiz-Fusion, but I do not like to switch off effects.
