Hmm, Xorg, seems to be ignoring my attempts to override the memory. If
I'm reading the lspci output correctly, I does appear that the card only
has 256MB:

01:00.0 0300: 10de:0422 (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA])
        Subsystem: 1682:2310
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 16
        Memory at de000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M]
        Memory at c0000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M]
        Memory at dc000000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=32M]
        I/O ports at dc80 [size=128]
[virtual] Expansion ROM at dfe00000 [disabled] [size=128K]
Capabilities: [60] Power Management version 2
Capabilities: [68] Message Signalled Interrupts: Mask- 64bit+ Queue=0/0
Enable-
Capabilities: [78] Express Endpoint IRQ 0

I was attempting to override by putting this in the "Device" section:

 VideoRam 262144

However, the xorg.log still reported the original 512MB value. Sigh.
