I've done some digging and it appears my HDD is very close to some that
are blacklisted for NCQ in drivers/ata/libata-core.c.

The relevant section is:
        /* Devices where NCQ should be avoided */
        /* NCQ is slow */
        { "WDC WD740ADFD-00",   NULL,           ATA_HORKAGE_NONCQ },
        /* http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.ide/14907 */
        { "FUJITSU MHT2060BH",  NULL,           ATA_HORKAGE_NONCQ },
        /* NCQ is broken */
        { "Maxtor 6L250S0",     "BANC1G10",     ATA_HORKAGE_NONCQ },
        { "Maxtor 6B200M0",     "BANC1B10",     ATA_HORKAGE_NONCQ },
        /* NCQ hard hangs device under heavier load, needs hard power cycle */
        { "Maxtor 6B250S0",     "BANC1B70",     ATA_HORKAGE_NONCQ },
        /* Blacklist entries taken from Silicon Image 3124/3132
           Windows driver .inf file - also several Linux problem reports */
        { "HTS541060G9SA00",    "MB3OC60D",     ATA_HORKAGE_NONCQ, },
        { "HTS541080G9SA00",    "MB4OC60D",     ATA_HORKAGE_NONCQ, },
        { "HTS541010G9SA00",    "MBZOC60D",     ATA_HORKAGE_NONCQ, },
        /* Drives which do spurious command completion */
        { "HTS541680J9SA00",    "SB2IC7EP",     ATA_HORKAGE_NONCQ, },
        { "HTS541612J9SA00",    "SBDIC7JP",     ATA_HORKAGE_NONCQ, },
        { "HTS722012K9A300",    "DCCOC54P",     ATA_HORKAGE_NONCQ, },
        { "HTS541616J9SA00", "SB4OC70P", ATA_HORKAGE_NONCQ, },
     <------- very similar to mine
        { "WDC WD740ADFD-00NLR1", NULL,         ATA_HORKAGE_NONCQ, },
        { "FUJITSU MHV2080BH",  "00840028",     ATA_HORKAGE_NONCQ, },

My drive has the following ID:

Model=Hitachi HTS541616J9SA00                 , FwRev=SB4OC7BP

Note the very slight version difference in the Firmware.

Could this be the issue affecting resume?

Dose anyone know how to disable NCQ for a given device so I can try
resume without it?
