Nevermind :-) Restarted Samba again and rebooted again. Now Samba starts automatically, so I guess problem fixed itself. Amaaaazing!!! Mark it “resolved”. Continue to have problem of windows servers not being able to log on to Samba share to do nightly sync for backup purposes (incorrect password) (Yes, I added the smbuser and smbpassword too). Since desktops can and servers can’t (all members of same windows controlled domain) I’m left with the conclusion that the problem may have to be solved in the windows server environment, not in Linux. I may just have to work around it. Too bad there is so much OS divisiveness (sigh)!!! But that wasn’t the bug I reported anyway. Just venting. So thanks! Sorry to waste your time.
