installed LTS 14.04 on laptop DELL inspiron 7000; 
when performing upgrade to 16.04:
Could not calculate the upgrade   
An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.  
 This can be caused by: 
* Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu 
* Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu 
* Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu; 

many broken packages; 
tried:
sudo apt-get clean, 
sudo apt-get install -f, 
sudo dpkg --configure -a, 
sudo apt-get update,
sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* -vf:  

no result 
removed also some specific packages as:
mplayer
sudo apt remove postgresql-* admin*

no result

removed with synaptic broken packages

no result
