Public bug reported:
I'm running Kubuntu 7.10. When I attempt to print, the following error
message is produced by KDE (here an example from attempting to print a
test page):
---------------
A print error occurred. Error message received from system:
cupsdoprint -P 'tmpprinter_gGtItV9m' -J 'KDE Print Test' -H
'/var/run/cups/cups.sock:631' -U 'root' -o '
multiple-document-handling=separate-documents-uncollated-copies
orientation-requested=3' '/usr/share/apps/kdeprint/testprint.ps' : execution
failed with message:
server-error-service-unavailable
---------------
cupsd crashes at this time. The syslog gives the following:
---------------
Nov 6 13:53:57 wakeling kernel: [ 3524.636000] audit(1194353637.566:4):
type=1503 operation="inode_permission" requested_mask="rw" denied_mask="rw"
name="/dev/tty" pid=5360 profile="/usr/sbin/cupsd"
Nov 6 13:53:57 wakeling cupsd: *** glibc detected *** /usr/sbin/cupsd: double
free or corruption (!prev): 0x080bd800 ***
---------------
The problem printers are network printers accessed by IPP and are both
HP models. I do not have any local printers to test with but using
KDE's "Print to file (PDF)" option "prints" successfully.
cupsys is version 1.3.2-1ubuntu7.1 and libc6 is 2.6.1-1ubuntu10. Both
were updated today (06/11/2007) but the problem was present both before
and after the upgrades.
