did a test on a hp 8200 elite sff (i5-2400, 8gb, nvidia quadro 600) gui screen shows blue background, lubuntu (logo) and dots (normal plymouth) text screen shows

(till I rebooted at ~1650.999999 timestamp message) alas lubuntu 18.10 x86 image was maybe 2 days old..
