I have tried and failed to reproduce this in a VM. After installing the second Ubuntu in UEFI mode, I wind up without any settings persisting in the nvram store at all, so I just get dropped to the ovmf shell. That is a bug in my KVM setup, but it makes it rather difficult to reproduce the problem.
If you can reproduce this, are you able to boot the ISO again under UEFI mode? If you are able to, what is the output of 'efibootmgr -v' after booting the ISO? ** Changed in: grub2 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1796260 Title: UEFI installation alongside BIOS installation: System fails to boot with cannot find a valid boot entry To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1796260/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
