Mine just hangs forever, using Gusty (release) and although the SHUTDOWN button was originally there (for about 24hrs) after that it disappeared, and I cannot find how to bring it back.
However I just tried hitting the power on/off button and it shutdown cleanly and properly. Strange Eh? Hows this X-Fi Fata1ty won't work but on m/board sound does even with it off in the BIOS! wot? Mobo ASUS A8V Deluxe (A+E models) AMD 4200 (939) processor Corsair XMS 2.5 CAS RAM (2GB) Raid drives disconnected (physically) during Ubuntu v7.10 OS installation test. Seagate 250GB (16mb cache) h-drive actually a PATA, though OS sees it as 'sda' instead of the proper 'hda'. Had some problems with Dual-Head until I found your comments 'nvidia- settings' as sudo/su. Passed on what I found to others and acknowledged you. only thing Xinerama sometimes works with Compiz and sometimes doesn't, think it shouldn't but there you are. Hopefully this 'fix' will help you.
