Public bug reported:

Tilda's cursor is always white regardless of the selected color scheme.
That means if the background is white, the cursor is not visible; if
black -- the character under it is not visible.  However, if a palette
(Tango, Linux console, ...) is chosen, the color gets set properly, but
only for the current run.  After tilda is restarted the problem
persists.
