gnome-shell is very good at using zero CPU when nothing is happening. So
if you find it's more than zero then that's probably due to one of your
extensions:

b'org.gnome.shell' b'enabled-extensions' b"['user-theme@gnome-shell-
extensions.gcampax.github.com', '[email protected]', 'arc-
[email protected]', 'alternate-tab@gnome-shell-
extensions.gcampax.github.com']"

Please remove all extensions and retest. If that's not enough then
please also give more details about what apps were running at the time.
