Tried out, but didn't work. Something unexpected happened, but this shouldn't be a problem: the rmmod command gave me a memory leak error. Then the various modprobe commands worked as expected, rosegarden keeps on crashing everything. I have a SB Live! 5.1. Player soundcard, I don't think it's the value one since it has a (useful) gamepad port and 6 channels output. Could you please tell me which kernel are you using, and what's your alsa's version?
