Hi,
I got the same problem with both 7.04 and 7.10. Toshiba psp3ae and
fixed it by adding the option acpi=off to the kernel into
/boot/grub/menu.lst
you should have something like:
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.22-14-generic root=UUID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ro quiet splash acpi=off
