Hi, Doing some research, I found out the problem was related to my Dell E521 BIOS. I upgraded the BIOS from 1.0.3 to 1.1.4 and I've been working for a week without any mouse freezing.
The old BIOS didn't work well with USB devices. With the new BIOS I still have a little problem when I restart Ubuntu and has an external USB hard drive connected, the BIOS initiation stops. But at least my mouse/keyboard works good now. I suggest this bug report needs to be closed since it is actually not a Linux bug, but a Dell BIOS problem.
