I saw there was a new BIOS available for my computer, and after installing it my computer wouldn't boot again. Oddly enough it wouldn't even boot after downgrading the BIOS back again. The last line in the boot process was:
ACPI: EC: interrupt blocked After doing some googling, I was able to get my machine booted again by adding noapic to the kernel paremeters. Once it was booted, I tried the latest intel-microcode again and my computer seems to boot fine with it. So in the end I'm guessing it was an unrelated firmware/BIOS bug: https://web.archive.org/web/20180919160303/https://evilazrael.de/content /getting-linux-boot-lenovo-thinkpad-e485e585 ** Changed in: intel-microcode (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1769335 Title: PC won't boot with latest intel-microcode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/intel-microcode/+bug/1769335/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
