Ubuntu Feisty Fawn / 7.04 (intel, desktop), Guys..., Ladies and
Gentlemen, i don't know what happened but i just sent the OO-forum this
message (because i was convinced it must have been a bug...), and read
it, because i do not know WHY OO printed it just now..., for the first
time all fine, the only thing i know is that i feel glad and hope it was
not just an "incident" (see my 2 replies as i sent them in that OO-
forum):

1)
This is a long shot, but you're using Ubuntu Linux and probably the OOo version
that came with it. I'm always noticing that one forum member or another will
advice you not to use that version but to get the generic Ooo.

Thank you for the reply. Yet OO or the specific gdi-driver of Samsung (well: i
suppose it is a bug in OO..., not in gdi-driver of the printer) is not
communicating, so to say. Never had this under Linux with OO and i have been
using OO (before StarOffice) under Linux for a long, long time now... and had
recognized (what is now named) OO as absolutely the best wordprocessor around.

Yes, people say a lot, but i am not sure whether those people really do know
about what they are saying. I have OO version 2.2 but thanks to your answer it
occured to me that i can report this bug at launchpad, i found out in my Open
Office here i can click on 'report a bug'.

So: that is now just what i did...

Thank you very much for your reply though!

Best Wishes,

Hey! You may NOT believe this..., either do i, but when i look again at
just what i printed just now... i have to (!)..., i mean: it is so
fantastic that i want to share it with you, maybe due to latest updates
of OO, i am not sure, but... all of a sudden the printing is FINE...,
cannot believe this but it is true! Very nice, because it is an
"important" letter to a company!

So good news...

The funny thing was that i could not set the printer Samsung ML1610 to
generic printer at all, just now when i tried this after having read
your reply..., but all of a sudden there was no option (where there had
been yesterday). So i don't know exactly how, like whether it is the
font type i was using (a rather "obscure" one maybe?) or the driver gdi
or OO printer mis-align in those settings or a mixture of this, but
really totally to my surprise, just yesterday it did NOT work and i have
to say i just now changed the font type..., (had'nt done so
deliberately) but... IT WORKS NOW FINE... OO prints wonderfully!

Same driver setting (gdi)
Same paper size (folio) and manual feed

just everything the same (except that i changed the font type and that i
somehow could not choose in options in the printer settings 'generic' or
so, all of a sudden unlike yesterday and the days before..., and that
now ML1610 seemed to be stuck and no other options to choose...)

So i may have reported the bug at launchpad now for nothing..., because just
before i printed... and just after my first reply to you... to my very glad
surprise the result of OO printing is... wonderfully fitting the page as is in
my experience normal for OO to print like this and always has been my
experience in Linux environments.

Computers are crazy. This has been proved / proven to me once again!

Maybe it was CUPS (common unix printing system) all the way, of which i
received updates just yesterday and that now it all is corrected in OO... (but
i had printed yesterday with OO and it was not good...) I know it is a lot of
guessing that i do (whether it was the font type, or this socalled CUPS, or
just OO-bug then or all of it together, i actually do no more care about it
now!) , yet ...... sooo glad that OO printed it all fine... as i am used to.

I know there can be people "out there" who simply can't believe this... (but
they do not see the letter for the company i just printed out here all fine in
alignment, unlike yesterday!).

Hope all will work perfect further... and so i hope i do not have to visit this
forum anymore.

Thanks for your reply again, though.

I say it again: computers are crazy (and especially Linux maybe...,); i
hope however everyone is glad with her/his own whatever brand
computersystem!

All the best,
Bye-bye.*
