When I asked Caja to copy files from one external USB 3 drive to another
USB 3 drive it gave me the total number of files (918.032) the size
transferred (187MB of 105BG), and the estimated time (316 hours) and
speed (92.4 kB/s). This was on Nov 3 at 11:58 am.
Later (Nov 4 at 7:53 pm) the number of files is 780,234 amount is 4.3GB
of 105.4 the time estimate 780 hours and spee 36.0 kB/s.
The longer it runs the slower it gets. In fact the speed decreases more
rapidly that the files transfer causing the time estimate to completion
is increase the more files transferred.
This is a classic symptom of a memory leak.
In addition, as soon at I mounted my 6TB drive, Caja slowed down.
Expanding a directory can take up to 12 seconds (disk spin up should
only take 1-3 seconds).
It appears that the Caja model does not take into account the modern
hard drives with capacities up to 12TB per drive.
