Public bug reported:

grub does not boot at various conditions. It works if the laptop is
undocked, no external monitor is connected and if no external Keyboard
is connected. In all other cases grub hangs initializing devices:

- Laptop undocked, but external monitor connected: grub hangs while
initializing graphics. It never gets out of looping over the external monitor
device. Both(!) screens stay blank. The internal screen has its backlight
turned on, but is not selected as drawing device. Grub never displayes anything
on any screen.
Taping on/off immediately turns computer off again.

- Laptop docked, no external monitor connected: grub hangs while initializing
additional io devices. It never gets to initializing graphics. The interal
screen stays blank, backlight is turned off.
