As far as I am aware the snap version of Firefox will store settings in a different area to that of the .deb. I wonder if you have some settings in the ~/.mozilla directory owned by a user other than you. If you still have those settings in place you could search for anything owned by another user.
In the past I've found running in the home directory: find \! -user yourusername to have revealed several files owned by root that have stopped various applications from working correctly.
