Hi,
links between sheets of the same spreadsheet file are updated immediately
however links to other files are only updated when the file that has the links
is re-opened (at that moment the saved values of the referred file will be
reloaded)
Tools->Options->Calc->Update links determines whether this is done at
every re-open or not

OpenOffice-calc does not actualizes immediatly cross-references, Only does it
after exit and enter two times.
