Let me try to sumamrize what I wanted to tell you again: First of all old types are meant to no more work when the type goes out EOL, see [1] for much more details. This is intentional and users are super-strongly encouraged to update machine types anyway. But that should leave you some option to get your snapshots back :-) On machines you'd in the libvirt definition bump the type to something newer and be good. Now unfortunately there are too many things called "snapshot" in libvirt/qemu stack :-/ Could you outline exactly how you created and want to resume you snapshots (commands)? Then we could check together how in those cases one would hopefully be able to bump the machine type to a supported version.
