I think the following may be associated with this problem. My system will not resume from suspend Hard rebooting causes a Kernel panic and inability to mount the file system >From Grub using advanced options I can eventually "resume" through >4.15.0-34-generic (but not 4.15.0-36 or 4.15.0-38!) - but it does not resume the previous session
sudo update-initramfs -u gives: update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-4.15.0-34-generic W: initramfs-tools configuration sets RESUME=UUID=8690dd17-8c64-490e-9c50-d6099db9e1e4 W: but no matching swap device is available. cp: -r not specified; omitting directory '/etc/udev/rules.d/79-udev-epson.rules' E: /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/udev failed with return 1. update-initramfs: failed for /boot/initrd.img-4.15.0-34-generic with 1. The RESUME=UUID does not exist on my system - presumably it should be the swap partition? https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/50437 seems very similar - but that is from 5 years ago so I am nervous given my proficiency at just following it through. Is it relevant that 1) My system drive is a SSD (and I am told that you should manually optimise it - I have not) 2) My swap partition at 8.5GB is only a little more than my RAM? 3) Disks show a Swap partition on my SSD (sbd6) and an 8.5GB Block device (dev/mapper/cryptswap1) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1795678 Title: package linux-image-4.15.0-36-generic 4.15.0-36.39 failed to install/upgrade: run-parts: /etc/kernel/postinst.d/initramfs-tools exited with return code 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/1795678/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
