This looks like a duplicate of bug 131526.
What GTK theme are you using? (Should be in System > Preferences > Appearance
or "gnome-appearance-properties").
The current best workaround seems to be using another Gnome theme, e.g.
"Human". It may also help to purge the openoffice.org packages and reinstall
them.
Please report back, how this works out for you.
