The issue started happening after the use of an pre-installed harddrive (with 16.04/unity) which i'd put in another noetebook: hardware change from a asus P55 to a X55U. After that i started the usual udate & upgrade.
Last notice: i tried out to install a second (mate) desktop environment ... and to my suprise the brightness-function worked (16.04.5). Even the FN+F5/F6 procedure works during the boot-procedure and stayed till the restart (with unity) - changes are not possible in that case. I'll try out your method and see/report what will happen ... best RRS Am 15.11.18 um 22:06 schrieb Joseph Salisbury: > Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade?
