In my case, I installed Ubuntu Mate 32-bit from DVD. The title of the disc is "Ubuntu-MATE 18.04.1 LTS i38."
This is on an iMac 4,1 machine, a coreduo 2.0GHz, 2GB RAM and a 256MB video card. All details are attached. Here is a summary of the steps to reproduce the issue. 1) Erase and install Ubuntu Mate using the minimal install option without updating while installing. (it is the only OS on the said computer) 2) Restart after the install and update the software as per defaults 3) Restart after the updates 4) Welcome Screen works as expected both before and after the software updates 5) Software Boutique works as expected only before the software updates* *It is worth noting that as I write this the Software Boutique Window does display the coat hangers and eventually displays the top bar of icons but then goes all white. I hope the attached report helps further diagnose the issue. I don't know what else might be needed but if more data needs to be captured via the terminal or otherwise please don't hesitate to let me know.
