12/11/18: More Info; I made sure that the "Secure Boot" option in the Win Bios was disabled, along with with the "legacy Boot" was already 'greyed out' so I can guess that it is already disabled. I used the gparted app in ubuntu, deleted the previous installations of ubuntu, plus a couple more that were no longer needed, so that I had plenty of free space. A new attempt at installation created a partition size of 16G.
The error displayed was 'executing grub-install/dev/sda' before it crashed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1807781 Title: error: cannot open `/boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu/grubx64.efi': Not a directory.
