Public bug reported:

Try to install nvidia-glx-new. Error message as below:

  nvidia-glx-new: Depends: xserver-xorg-core (>= 1:0.99.0-1) but it is
not going to be installed

$ apt-cache madison xserver-xorg-core
xserver-xorg-core | 2:1.4-3ubuntu1 | http://archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main
Packages
xorg-server | 2:1.4.1~git20071105-1ubuntu2 | http://archive.ubuntu.com
hardy/main Sources

$ apt-cache madison nvidia-glx-new
nvidia-glx-new | 100.14.19+2.6.22.4-14.9 | http://archive.ubuntu.com
hardy/restricted Packages
linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22 | 2.6.22.4-14.9 | http://archive.ubuntu.com

$ apt-cache madison linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22
linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22 | 2.6.22.4-14.9 | http://archive.ubuntu.com
hardy/restricted Sources

This is somewhat confusing as it would appear that 2:1.4-3ubuntu1 is
indeed greater than 1:0.99.0-1.

** Affects: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
