Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu better.
Could you please try to run `sudo apt update` to refresh the package list to see if that makes the package available. If it still doesn't work, please add the output of `apt policy mariadb-server` along with the full error message you get when attempting to install. The policy command should display something along the lines of: $ apt policy mariadb-server mariadb-server: Installed: (none) Candidate: 1:10.1.34-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 Version table: 1:10.1.34-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 500 500 http://no.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-updates/universe amd64 Packages 500 http://no.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-updates/universe i386 Packages 500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-security/universe amd64 Packages 500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-security/universe i386 Packages 1:10.1.29-6 500 500 http://no.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/universe amd64 Packages 500 http://no.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/universe i386 Packages ** Package changed: mysql-5.7 (Ubuntu) => mariadb-10.1 (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: mariadb-10.1 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1808749 Title: E: Unable to locate package mariadb-server To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mariadb-10.1/+bug/1808749/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
