Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ldap-auth-config

When Ubuntu 7.10 was freshly installed via x64 Server cd, I was asked
what Ldap server I wanted to use. I entered the correct hostname.
After the install, utilities that use Ldap libraries were not resolving
anything: hostnames, users, etc. Though, performing 'ldapsearch'
without changing any server/host settings worked. Perusing
'/etc/ldap.conf', I found the line:

    host ldapi://auth.domain

This is not an accepted format for this configuration command. I would
expect to see one of these accepted formats:

host auth.domain (`man ldap.conf' says this is deprecated, though it
functions)
    uri ldap://auth.domain
uri ldapi://auth.domain (assuming 'ldapi' works at all. I don't know what
it refers to, but it appears to be an acceptable format).

I changed the 'host' line set by the package 'ldap-auth-config' to
    host auth.domain

And utilities immediately began to correctly resolve.

** Affects: ldap-auth-client (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New

** Summary changed:

- ldapi ldap.conf
+ /etc/ldap.conf has incorrect syntax which causes utilities to fail to resolve
