Public bug reported:
On the default Xubuntu theme, a checkbox shows a dark grey box with a
black check mark. If the line it belongs to is selected, the checkbox
becomes black on white, but until this is done, I find it impossible to
see what state the checkbox is in (and in fact, I couldn't tell at first
it was even a checkbox).
