Oddly enough, the find function works in Dolphin if, and only if, I go
to Settings > Search > and UN-tick "Enable File Search".

This bug has been around for years. I'm surprised it doesn't have a
higher priority considering that file search has been a part of every
operating system I've known since the CP/M and DOS days.

So it can work, as long as it's turned off. It seems to me that this
would be extremely easy to fix, simply by re-naming the checkbox
"Disable File Search" (as if anyone would want to do that but ya never
know) and just make the box's value default to false (box not checked)
vs. true (box checked).
