hi all, have the same problem i guess. running on asus m3n centrino1.6, 0.5ram, onboard intel 82852/855GM with shared mem. i'm trying k/ ubuntu 7.10 livecd, it boots fine till X starts up and displays only coloured vertical stripes.. had not this problem with edgy and feisty -live and installed. now i can boot up from gutsy livecd just in safe graphics mode, and the image is still slightly flickering. with a normal boot X cannot display anything, but coloured vertical stripes.. i don't really feel like attempting a fresh install in text mode from the alternate cd, as my feisty installation is still working. my dmesg output and Xorg.0.log look both ok (at least after a safe mode boot), video card properly detected and no errors about that. note that i have to boot with the kernel option 'nolapic' (as i had in feisty too), due to [Bug 83290 (kernel 2.6.20 and 2.6.22 problem on asus centrino)]. this is the only post that resembles my problem, couldn't find any useful info.. any help, suggestion, link are highly appreciated!
