@Daniel I have been using Cinnamon for around 15 days now. Other than the first instance where I felt that there is a freeze, it never happened in Cinnamon. In the last couple of days, I once switched to default Ubuntu DE and the freeze came back in no time. I guess it is more or less safe to say that this keyboard freeze is almost non- existent in Cinnamon.
