i try to have development VM on my home machine. everything is fine, i use
spice/QXL and virt-manager and spice agent for resizing the desktop.
surfing w. firefox is working fine and all the x apps i triad are ok.
but shortly after starting IDEA or PyCharm X crashes the session.
sometimes right after the splash screen.
ALWAYS after i click "Open" and scrolling in the directory tree.
to narrow down i tried several things:
- using the same software version on a physical machine: works
- using another graphics driver instead of QXL like cirrus etc: works
- created a debian stretch vm with roughly the same software: crashes too
so it seems QXL is to blame ...
