Hi Daniel, Sorry to trouble you but I have experienced problems upgrading to 18.04. Perhaps this is related to the original problem?
Upgrading via the terminal, the screen/system froze at: unpacking libxdmcp6:amd64(1:1.1.2-3)over (1:1.1.2-1.1)... Upgrading via distribution upgrade, the screen/system froze at: preparing to configure libmin.uprpc10(amd64} In both instances I rebooted from BIOS back to 16.04 which I am now currently running.
