Correction: *Everything* is working fine. In my " Success with 7.10" comment applying the autosuspend off, and the flash drive working were a coincidence. Further testing revealed that 9 times out of 10 the flash drive would pause and reset.
I have since switched to using a powered USB hub, and no longer get failures on the Flash device. Obviously I will not be reporting anything in bug #85488.
