I've tried reproducing this error in a test environment, but upgrades
and fresh installs seem to work without error.
Can you check to see if there actually is a clamav directory in
/var/log? I wonder if there might be a permissions or ownership issue...
/var/log should look like this:
drwxrwxr-x 9 root syslog 4096 Jan 23 12:13 log
