Would you please provide a pointer to some information about Apple Events and 
Firefox? Googling for mozilla and "apple event", firefox and "apple event", and 
thunderbird and "apple event" doesn't reveal anything.
Alas "Apple Event," just pollutes the search results with a lot of crap about 
Apple's product announcements :-(

Documentation for FF and TB doesn't clearly state that the command line
arguments won't work on Mac OS X.

Indeed, this page https://developer.mozilla.org/en-
US/docs/Mozilla/Command_Line_Options#Mac_OS_X implies that command line
arguments should work on Mac.
