Public bug reported: Binary package hint: udev
The WAIT_FOR_SYSFS udev rule in 113-ubuntu16 waits only for 3 seconds. This may result in the hotplug event being sent to hal to early which in turn hinders the device from being automounted. There are two work-arounds available from upstream: * wait for 10 seconds: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/hotplug/udev.git;a=commit;h=39ea7c6c67de69379b603196a0eff6f7ce2e469a * don't delay the creation of scsi related sysfs files http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=bfd129445f23c037d9a440ebfa4109e11c220301 since the latter requires a kernel modification, I guess the first would be a better option, and so I reported this against udev instead of kernel. ** Affects: udev (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- udev wait_for_sysfs doesn't wait long enough for all usb mass-storage devices to be handled correctly by hald https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/162476 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
