The official updates of Gutsy already ship a newer release of the HPLIP
packages. They could have fixed the problem.

But before doing an auto update now, please do some more investigations:

Your tests should that neither CUPS nor SANE nor the HPLIP package
itself infected libsane-hpaio with the link to the old libnetsnmp
library.

So please go through all libraries listed by

ldd /usr/lib/sane/libsane-hpaio.so.1

and ldd each library. Please tell which of these libraries link to
libnetsnmp9.
