By the way, native TIFF support would be useful for creating browser- based viewer (as an extension) for local images even if TIFF support was not quite reasonable for the pure-web purpose.
Lack of TIFF support makes such possible browser-based viewer of quite limited usefulness since many serious lossless graphics (e.g. scanned photos or other documents) are usually in TIFF format.
