An update. I have update 18.04.2 with the 4.18 kernel. Still not working. Still have ACPI errors. Now I get error messages for thew USB ports - "can't set config".
As far as the behavior goes - now the track pad works on boot but ACPI wake will not work with the laptop's built-in keyboard not with the track-pad.
