I have a reproducible case of this bug (or something very similar), so
am reopening.
I'm running Gutsy (upgraded from Feisty) on an HP dc5750. When copying
from a pair of external USB 1-terabyte drives to a pair of internal SATA
1-terabyte drives, I get hangs that can only be fixed (so far) by
rebooting. Details below in the next comment.
