This may be symptoms of a disk that is about to fail -- these errors are things that really shouldn't be happening: "Resource temporarily unavailable" trying to claim a lock or an MD5 failure on firmware files aren't normal. Could you please first check that the image you downloaded was indeed complete (by verifying the image from the boot menu, and/or checking its checksum (see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto#Verifying_the_ISO_integrity and https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/CDIntegrityCheck). If everything looks good; I would suggest trying to install on a separate computer, or replacing the disk / installing on a different device (such as installing on another USB disk).
