Please try if the instruction given at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-
source-2.6.22/+bug/120316/comments/6 will allow gutsy to boot in qemu.
Type the modprobe and exit commands mentioned at the busybox/initramfs
prompt.
