Public bug reported:
On a fresh install of Ubuntu 7.10 I need to enable the restricted
drivers for the ATI video card and the broadcom wireless adapter.
This bug is aimed at directing new users to the proper methods of
getting their drivers installed. MORE DOCUMENTATION within ubuntu
please. When I click on the network icon to connect to a wireless
network there is absolutely nothing that directs me to the restriced
drivers manager. My computer just fails to connect and that's it. We
need a couple of bullets under a help tab that directs someone to the
proper method of installing the wireless driver.
Once in restricted drivers I was unable to install them. Again, no
documentation telling the user that they need to enable more
repositories to be able to install the restricted drivers. Only an
error message complaining about a missing package. Please add another
line stating the User may need to enable additional repositories and how
they would go about doing it.
Thanks,
wes
