Once again today I couldn't connect to the SSID I normally use, I tried 
something in network manager, through the drop down menu ( accessible through 
left click on the network icon/indicator located on the upper panel, all the 
way down the menu, select "modifications des connexions" ( don't know the 
English version for sure ) select the wifi connection you usually use then 
press the button "modify", a configuration window opens up, on the second tab, 
"Wi-Fi" the "Mode:" setting was set on "Client" I changed it to "Ad hoc" and 
was able to connect right away.
I switched back to "Client" and will monitor the behavior...
